Rising Stars :Girls 1st-3rd Grade
Program Goals
The Rising Stars Program incorporates a clinic format introducing lacrosse to beginners along with fun, informal games. The focus will be on lacrosse fundamentals and elementary game strategy with an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship. The program is primarily a clinic to encourage learning of basic skills. Heavy emphasis is placed on learning fundamentals through fun drills and informal games. Our goal with the young girls is for them to have fun while they are on the lacrosse field. They play a lot of fun games and drills that isolate lacrosse skills in a very controlled, safe environment. On Sunday February 28, 2010 Geronimo will host a Rising Stars Players and Parents Meeting scheduled for: 4:30-5:30 PM in Jacob's Gym @ Collegiate's Mooreland Rd Campus.
Coaches
Coaches will include former high school and college players with assistance from current high school players. Carolyn Burton the director of the Blazing Stars from 1997-2009 will take over as the Program Director of the Rising Stars. Carolyn has developed a teaching approach that emphasizes skill development in a fun environment.
Requirements
All players will receive a Geronimo jersey and mouth guard. Players must provide their own stick and eye goggles. See the Equipment Information page for details and purchasing alternatives.
